Selena was awarded the Female Vocalist award and the award for Performer of the Year at the Tejano Awards in 1986. Selena Y Los Dinos gained recognition and fame after that. The group was featured in a number of TV shows that were Spanish-language, such as El Show De Johnny Canales and Siempre In Domingo and Sabado Gigante.
